What is Octate theory?

Octate theory was proposed by New land. According to this theory,  when the elements are arranged in the increasing order of their atomic weights. The every eighth element possesses the same properties of first one.

Eg: Sodium is the eighth element for Lithium.

Both elements possess same properties.
